Gen Con 08, part 1

Gen Con, for me, started at the airport. After I got my boarding pass, I turned and saw a man who looked familiar. I asked him if he was going to Gen Con, and he said yes. We compared notes, and it turns out that we had probably met at either Rising Phoenix Games or WPI gaming weekend. I mentioned that I had the most recent WPI SFS T-Shirt with me. He mentioned that he had done the artwork on that T-shirt. (I wore the T-shirt on Friday, I think.)

The plane landed on time, I shared a cab to downtown, and was in my hotel room (The Hilton) by 3:30pm. On the way to the convention center I bumped into a couple of people I knew on the street. At the Convention Center I signed CGC up for some events, and picked up our Swag (free stuff).

I had decided to put my Gen Con badge into my Contata Badge holder. This had the advantage of already having a LJ ribbon attached. I also got compliments on the Minion button I got at Contata. (When people asked, I told them that the person who gave it to me promised that when he became Evil Overlord he would be nice to the people wearing the Minion button.)

After that I wandered, getting a feel for where everything was. I knew that quadrivium was coming to Gen Con, so when I saw her husband it was not a surprise, never did bump into her though. I stopped by the mall and got a sub at the food court, then headed over to the Embassy Suites for the EN/CM meet & greet. I got to meet in person lots of people I had only met online, to many to list them all. The one I was really looking forward to meeting was dextra. It was nice to find out that she really is that fabulous in person.

CGC got to the hotel between 9:30 and 10 pm. When I spoke to her on her cell, she said she needed some time to destress on her own, so I hung out at the party till 11pm then went back to the Hilton.
