1961: Not born yet

1971: It was a white house, I think it had 4 rooms and a bathroom. My best guess is Meredith, NH. I lived with my mother & father. My brother Bruce was born that year.

1981: I was living in a condo complex in Londonderry, NH. It was 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, with kitchen, living room and an unfinished basement. All yards were common space, there were a pool, playground, and tennis courts. I think that year the half bath downstairs was converted into a darkroom. I lived with my mother, father & brother Bruce.

1991: I was living in the finished basement of a ranch house in Needham, MA. It was 5 bedrooms, 1 bath, with a kitchen, living room, office and workshop in the basement. It also had a large yard. I lived with my mother, father, and my brothers Bruce and Brian. I believe my mother’s father also came to live with us that year; it may also be the year he passed away.

2001: I was living in a small 5 room apartment in Framingham, MA, about 650 square feet. No yard, but it did have a parking space. I lived with Sabina and three cats (Mischief, Caution, & Snowball). This was the year I got married. This is also the year Mischief passed away.

2011: So far this year I have already lived in 2 places
Madison, NH with my father’s father, my mother, father, and my cousin Brendan. It is a 3 story 7 room with 2.5 baths. It has a small yard, and privileges to use the beach of a nearby lake.
The Whitehaus in Jamaica Plain, MA, a house with 3 stories plus unfinished basement, 13+ rooms, 2 baths and about a dozen residents. I am subletting my brother Brian’s room while he is away on tour. Miniscule yard, no parking space.

January: We gamed for nearly 12 hours at the Staybridge Suites where a friend of a friend was staying.

February: A very merry un-unbirthday to ocelotn and gee_tar

March: Authors are often accused of writing characters who are actually themself in disguise, however in the new book A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire there are clear differences between the author and the main character.

April: Tech Support is not exactly my field, but I have enough computer experience to do most of the basics, which is what is usually needed, so I decided to apply to some postings.

May: I am unhappy with my weight. (183 lbs)

June: In the past seven days I walked 2 miles 4 times, 1.5 miles 1 time, and was a pallbearer on Saturday. (177 lbs.)

July: For the cephalopod fans out there, while looking up a perfectly ordinary word online at merriam-webster.com the sidebar had this video that I had to share

August: For the past three months my father has been working as the assistant director of Unnecessary Farce put on by The Village Players of Wolfboro N.H.

September: In honor of Seanan Mcguire being nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer which is being awarded this weekend, let's see if people know what to do during the Zombie Uprising: Where is the FIRST place to go when the uprising begins?

October: This week I was not motivated enough to walk in the rain. I only walked six and a half miles over 2 days. I went kayaking once. I only did 5 half hour yoga sessions. (156 lbs.)

November: With Ohio Valley Filk Festival over we are coming to the end of the Filk year. As we look back at what Filk has meant to us this year it is a good time to consider The Filk Hall of Fame.

December: This week I walked 4 miles. I did 5 half hour yoga sessions. (151 lbs.)

One little compliment can make you feel amazing.

So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. And once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind you how great you are. Comments are going to be screened so none of you will know if I'm über-popular and get over 100 comments on this or a total loser who doesn't get any.

Feel free to post this in your own LJ! :)

♠ I invite anyone who looks at this entry to post this meme and their current wallpaper on their LiveJournal.
♠ Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
♠ Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!

I have always prefered a brown/burgandy color scheme to my desktop. A steam-punk PC. You should see the "skin" on my media-player. The poster comes from a series of "alternate-history" events which will include S.J. Tucker and K' Wiley. For more info go to http://www.strowlers.com/ .

If you had me alone, in your house, for twenty-four hours and I had agreed to do whatever you wanted me to, what would you have me/you/us do?

If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Last Saturday was 3 years on LJ for me. Some of you I met through or because of LJ. Some I kept contact with or got to know better through LJ. I am very greatful for my LJ friends. Thank You.

Here are the five topics that were given me by [livejournal.com profile] apocalypticbob. If you'd like topics of your own, comment

Chocolate: We start with the good stuff, my drug of choice. Chocolate is my second favorite food behind peanut butter. I prefer dark chocolate. I was recently in a restaurant where their February menu specials were ‘everything with chocolate’. I decided to try the ‘sirloin with chocolate/brandy glaze’. The taste was good, in an unusual way; the chef had played up the earthiness of the chocolate. My mind however kept having trouble with the cognitive dissidence of chocolate with steak.

Glass: Like most people I am fascinated by glass and how it handles light, its smooth texture. In art school I would sometimes stop outside the glassblowing studio and watch people blow glass. It was fascinating to say the least.

Flowers: I like flowers, but I’m not a huge fan. My favorite flower is the dandelion, from when I was to young to know better. I know it is an invasive weed, and I root them out of any yard I am responsible for, but I can’t help but smile when I see a field doted with yellow. Who hasn’t loved something that turned out to be selfish and destructive?

Concrete: When you said random, you really meant random. I don’t have anything to say about concrete. I know that in the southern states many streets are paved with concrete, but in New England most streets are paved with tar. Cellars are concrete. I really don’t have any feelings about concrete.

Hope: You saved the best for last. I am very much a creature of hope, as a conscious decision.

In high school I read a book called The Stranger. One of the things the book talks about is that for a “condemned man” hope is a burden. I’ll admit that there is a point to that. There is stress to hoping, and sometimes disappointment. People will sometimes find relief in bad news, because at least the waiting and hoping are over.

However I feel that hope is a burden, the same way that jet fuel is a burden to airplanes. Jet fuel is one of the heaviest things on an airplane. When you calculate how much fuel is needed, you have to include extra fuel to deal with the weight of extra fuel. On the other hand, while an airplane is much lighter without the fuel, it won’t get very far without it.

I have achieved Floor.

I managed to unpack, move, and resort enough boxes this weekend that there is now space in my room.

Just in time for [livejournal.com profile] chaoticgoodchic to visit this Wednesday.

And it only took me three months.

I got tagged to post positive thoughts again by [livejournal.com profile] rosinavs

So the good thing for today is Black Raven Tea by Eastern Shore Tea Co. someone at work got it in a gift basket and has been sharing. It is a black tea with black currant.

Typically I like sweet/light (white or green) teas, but this one has a dark, brooding but not too bitter flavor that is suitable to gray fall/winter mornings. Drink while still warm, not suitable for iced tea.
