Sunday, better late than never
I overslept
Sunday I woke at 10:30 am
I quickly got up, threw on sweats, and went down to the consuite to grab breakfast. I then went back to the room to pack, shower and change. I left my bags at the hotel bag check, my cloak at the con coat check and headed off for juggling.
The juggling practice was in full swing (in some cases literally). Balls, clubs, devil sticks, sphere balancing, scarves, etc. I started out with 3 balls, and then tried 2 clubs. I gave a kid some pointers on devil sticks. I watched
xuth practice tradeoffs with someone.
Then 1:00 came around and it was time for RED SHIFT INTERPLANETARY DO-GOODER audio-drama by the Post-Meridian Radio Players. This was a perfectly balanced parody with all the right plots, tropes, and inside jokes (Green’s not a flavor!).
After that I started to go around the con looking for people to hug goodbye, in case I didn’t see them later. I had some tea in the consuite & chatted with some people.
At 3:00 I went to the “making of RED SHIFT” panel with
maedbh7. It was amazing to hear the amount of work that goes into that type of thing.
After that we headed to the Dead Dog Filk. On the way there Rachael (who I met last year at Pi-Con) spotted me, and I dragged her along with us. The circle was trying a different style of progress. Someone would sing a song, and then someone else would do a follower that had something in common with the first. The third song should have something in common with the second, but not be the same theme as the first, and so on. Each new song (ideally) would go off on a different tangent. There were some fun combinations. One person did a song about angels, the next did a song about a guy selling bootleg Paul McCartney tapes (to the tune of Under her coat she had wings)
I one point Rachael thought of a song, but wasn’t sure of herself, so I gave her a nudge. She sang a kids song about a sausage making machine, that was well received. Maedbh7 decided we needed a sing-along so played American Pie. I just happened to have a follower to that, another song by Don McLean, much less well known. Sister Fatima, which has always had a Callahan’s feel to me.
I left the filk sing around 6pm and headed home. Soul replete.
