Action Movie Day (yesterday)
Jun. 12th, 2011 04:39 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I went to see:
X-Men: First Class from 1:00 pm to 3:15 pm
I liked it. I thought Kevin Bacon did a very good job as Sebastian Shaw. My only (minor) problem is that they got a bit overdramatic on the things we knew would happen. Dragging out a “reveal”, when the audience already knows the answer, doesn’t work.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides from 4:00 pm to 6:15 pm
A fun movie. Captain Jack is still a treat to watch. I liked the interplay between him and Angelica (Penélope Cruz) except for the Jack vs. Jack swordfight (see my previous comment about dragging out a reveal).
Kung-Fu Panda 2 in 3D from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
They only had it in 3D, I enjoyed it anyway. Shen (the white peacock) is a great villain, and they did not drag out the reveal.
Super 8 from 9:30 pm to 11:20 pm
The girl at the box office described it as E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial meets LOST. It also reminded me a bit of Signs. Half the fun of the movie is the 1979 nostalgia; David Gallagher’s performance was hilarious. Elle Fanning’s performance was amazing.
I did not see Bridesmaids because the showtimes didn’t sync with the other movies.
