I love people. Up here in Madison is quite isolated. It fed my soul to be with people again. I got to see lots of my Chicagoland friends who I haven’t seen for four months. There have been so many changes; people moving, or changing jobs, kids getting bigger. It was good to touch base again.
There was also quite a number of Canadian fen there. I even got to see some New York & Massachusetts friends while I was there (ironically). There were hugs and chats, people concerned with how I am doing. (While I am still in limbo, I am handling it as well as I can.)
I also made some new friends. I got to have conversation with Scott Snyder about gaming and old school Magic the Gathering. I suggested he and Mary Crowell should do a D&D concert together.
I met
shadowriderhope or “Hope of the Saxophone” as she seems to be known. It was fun hanging out with her while waiting for the pizza on Sunday. She was great playing with Tom Smith on Starlight and Saxophone, and she joined in on a few songs at the open filks. Unfortunately I didn’t get to sing I’m going to go back there someday till after she went to bed. I bet that song would sound great with Sax backing. (She also was in the Toyboat Concert, but I overslept and missed that).
Thanks to everyone who was there for making it a great con.

Any chance you have a copy?

I was amused by your reaction when Hope came up to play with Tom and I said to you "there really ought to be a saxophone." You thought I was just making a joke, and then you were shocked that they really were playing Starlight and Saxophone -- but I knew they would be.
