Sometimes I dream in stories

The dream came across as a movie/story I was watching
five people are sitting at a celebration talking about old times.
First couple (husband & wife) are the main characters (mid thirties) they have been together a long time but are going through a rough spot currently
Second couple (husband & wife) are best friends of the first
Fifth person is the younger brother (mid twenties) of the male main character.
The talk goes to how the main characters first met, and we flash back to a scene on a playground where a 5 year old boy is staring fascinated at a five year old girl, and when she stumbles he walks up to comfort her.
We then hear the guy from couple number two call out a date/event and jump to a different flashback.
That flashback is interrupted by the brother asking about the main couple’s first date, and we return to the present.
The guy from the first couple mentions that this is a story that the rest don’t know. He tells about the two of them at the age of 16 at a drive-in movie. It was a SF/time travel flick. At the drive-in they get into talking about the future, and sharing their lives, and is it possible to share life 50/50? They decide that one way to share is to split it up, so that he gets both of their pasts, and she gets both of their future, and they write up a contract to that effect, on the spot.
Just as the implications set in that this is what the rest of the movie is about, I woke up.
