maverick_weirdoNow that the Pegasus Ballots are Open I want to share some thoughts on the Best Performer Category. I am not going to campaign on behalf a specific filker, but there is something I want people to consider in their nominations this year.
The filk community is blessed with a wealth of talented performers, as we can see from both the past winners and 63 suggestions on the brainstorming poll. With so many talented people we tend to focus on the singers; however there are many filkers who perform without singing. Some play woodwind, some play brass, there are those who play stringed instruments, and those who play percussion. They add that something extra to the already awesome song.
So I am suggesting this year when you nominate people for Best Performer, consider the musicians who support the singers.
