Yesterday instead of sitting around watching the snow (which I have been doing for days) I was sent on a mission.

I was needed to go pick up my brother's mother-in-law at the airport in Boston.

I decided to make the most of the trip. I left early to give me time to visit some bookstores in Cambridge. Pandemonium did not have any copies of "A Local Habitation" but the Borders Books in the Cambridgeside Galleria did have 1 copy (which I bought).

After I took Fran from the airport to her home I met up with [livejournal.com profile] maedbh7 and [livejournal.com profile] theloriest. They then asked forced me to play Race for the Galaxy with them. It was a fun evening.

But you can Bankrupt My Pants. I haven't been online since July 17th so please let me know if I have missed any big news.

I am now in Chicagoland. *Kermit flail* Yeaaaaa.

Thank-You's go out to:

[livejournal.com profile] outlander and her friend, [livejournal.com profile] bercilakslady, [livejournal.com profile] happyfunpaul, my brother Brian, [livejournal.com profile] ultimatepsi, and [livejournal.com profile] dvtune at the Lowell end

[livejournal.com profile] almeda, John, Beka, A.J., and [livejournal.com profile] chaoticgoodchic at this end.

The drive went smoothly (for the most part) and unpacking is in progress. Snowball (my cat) worried us by disappearing, until we figured out she had gotten into a crallspace. She is coming out to eat, and use the litterbox, but not when anyone is around. (Snowball is not a fan of change.)

While I am online a belated Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] kittyguitar,
and Happy Birthday today to [livejournal.com profile] vixyish

When I heard yesterday that the temp today would reach 90o I decided that would be a good day to visit Revere Beach.

I brought a backpack to work with towel, blanket, beach clothes, and sun tan lotion, in addition to my usual work gear.

I got out of work at about 5, took the Green Line to the Blue Line, and got off at Revere Beach. The air temp was about 91o the water temp was about 51o. It was… refreshing. I did go in the water all the way. After that I went to lie down and finish my book (Goblin War by Jim C. Hines if you are curious). The wind was… exfoliating. It was blowing hard enough that the sand built up in the spine of the pages I was reading.

Of course no trip to Revere Beach would be complete without a visit to Kelly’s Roast Beef. The service was a little slow, but not as bad as I feared it would be. I got a roast beef sandwich with onions, tomatoes and horseradish sauce, it was worth the wait.

I got back on the Blue Line at Wonderland Station, and made it to North Station with 20 minutes to spare on the 8:30 train to Lowell.

  • Last Monday I updated my resume on Dice.com to show I was looking for work in the Boston area

  • Wednesday I got a call from Arbour Group. They saw my resume on Dice and asked if I would be interested in applying for a position, and I went through a preliminary interview. (Arbor Group is a placement company.)

  • Thursday I went into Cambridge and met face to face with someone from Arbor Group.

  • Friday I had 2 phone interviews with the $Client, plus I filled out and faxed the application paperwork.

  • Saturday I got the offer, Arbor Group is making me a salaried employee with benefits.

  • I'll start working for the $Client in Cambridge, Tuesday.

  • Did I mention Arbor Group's home office is in Chicago?

If you have offered to help me move this weekend, please confirm in comments when you are available. Drop-ins are also welcome

I am picking up the truck "early" friday, so any time Friday or Saturday will help. Currently planning on providing a "late lunch" at 2pm Saturday.

Chaoticgoodchic and I have decided that we are not ready to move in together. So I am not moving to Chicago. I'm sure this is a big shock to some of you (it was not an easy decision for us either).

Given a choice between being staying with people in Massachusetts till I can find another job (No, my old job won't take me back, I asked) or staying with people in Illinois till I can find another job, Massachusetts makes more sense. I know more people here, and my family is here.

I am still moving out of my current Apt in Worcester, and I will still need help loading the truck this Friday (19th) and Saturday (20th)

I am sorry to disappoint those in Chicagoland who were looking forward to seeing me.

Hugs are appreciated*

*I am currently online at the Worcester Library I don't know how often I'll be able to check E-mail or LJ
